Kevin Eriksson was flying from the beginning and set the second fastest time in free practice. He drove consistently in the top 5 in qualifications but got his rear tire crashed in Q3 by Grönholm who hit him twice in the start turn and was not even penalized for it.

Timo Scheider worked his way up from P12 und P13 in the first two qualifyfings on this tough track that was new to him and like Eriksson he made it to the semifinals with P7 and P9 in Q3 and Q4. 'Unfortunately only Eriksson could make the final.‘ Scheider commented after the race, ‚but we know how fast we can be here if things work out for us. We can use this knowledge for next year.‘ He sees this year realistically: ‚The works teams are raising the bar especially VW and Audi but we are still right in the middle of the all. That is very motivating.'

The final was unlucky because after a very competitive first lap Eriksson suffered a puncture and fell back to P5. ‚That is just the way it goes. This was my second flat tire this race. This track is a tire killer as others had the same problem. It was still satisfactory to drive the fastet Ford this weekend. For me it was important to have my first final this year and I hope to have more to come.'
